The Dzongu Ecotourism Committee (DETC) was formed in 2003 by a group of dedicated people from Upper and Lower Dzongu. The Committee was established to ensure that ecotourism development in the area generates positive benefits for the local people and that negative impacts are minimized.

DETC is headed by the President with support from the General Secretary and members. The DETC manages ecotourism operations in Dzongu, and provides all the logistical support to ensure that visitors have an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Society of Sikkim

The Ecotourism and Conservation Society of Sikkim (ECOSS) is an organization of like-minded people working to accomplish a common mission of defining and implementing the concept of ecotourism in the context of the state of Sikkim. We firmly believe that ecotourism and conservation cannot exist without each other. ECOSS members are dedicated to community self-reliance and have a mandate to achieve the goals of sustainable development through ecotourism and conservation. ECOSS believes that community self determination and targeted assistance is the only formula that can lead to sustainable development.

ECOSS is committed to promoting ecotourism and conservation for the benefit of people at all levels of Sikkimese society. We seek to combine the strengths of rural communities with the experiences of national and international groups who are leaders in the fields of ecotourism and conservation.

ECOSS is a registered body recognized by the Government of Sikkim as an independent, non-political, not-for-profit Non Governmental Organization.
